Marlungku-Kari Child and Family Centre

The Marlungku-Kari Child and Family Centre

is a place-based initiative funded by the Northern Territory Government Reform Management Office and is co-located on the grounds of the Tennant Creek Primary School. Marlungku-Kari which means a place belonging to families in Warumungu, has been established to respond to the complex needs of children and families experiencing vulnerability in Tennant Creek. We operate with the intention of providing access to a warm, confidential and culturally safe space that prioritizes families in the greatest need as well as providing an opportunity for families and children to meet with local services who offer expertise care and support.

Marlungku-Kari Child and Family Centre aims to improve children’s health, development, safety and wellbeing using a strength based, child focused model with linked up services that include:

  • assisting and supporting families experiencing or at risk of vulnerabilities
  • strengthening community leadership and capacity to support families to raise children
  • establishing strong, sustainable and accountable systems for improving child and family wellbeing

We are one of the first Child and Family Centres in the Northern Territory to be Aboriginal led and operated, we work in close partnership with a range of local service providers to ensure all families and children in Tennant Creek receive the support they need to raise happy, healthy and strong children.

The CFC will operate year-round, Monday to Friday excluding public holidays.
